ADF provides support to flooding
The ADF is providing support to the State Emergency Service in Victoria as La Niña continues its deluge across the nation.
Two helicopters will join support efforts on October 18 to assist with evacuation and relocation of communities, lifting and moving heavy equipment, provision and resupply of essential food supplies to isolated communities and provision of feed and fodder for livestock.
From October 13, the ADF has provided local community assistance including sandbagging to the flood-affected towns of Wangaratta, Shepparton, Echuca Murchison, Mooroopna, Rutherglen and Bendigo.
With the continued rise in flood waters, the ADF has deployed further personnel with high clearance vehicles and equipment to provide support.
Four ADF personnel are also assisting the State Coordination Centre with planning and logistics.
The ADF is on standby to provide further support if National Emergency Management Australia requests it.
